Innovation re-framed

When we think innovation, we tend to think cutting-edge technology, latest gadget on the market, or something that has never been done before.

But innovation is much more than this.

I think sometimes as start-ups we can get caught up thinking that "it's all been done before" and "everything has been invented already". But when looking at some of the most innovative companies, they more often than not did not invent anything. They are using existing technology, sometimes existing products, but in a different way.

They are breaking down the patterns of how we live our lives and operate in the world.

So what is at the core of innovation? The first thing that comes to my mind is collaboration. Collaboration means bringing the right people together and watching how the collision of two minds can create something completely unexpected.

I believe that one side of innovation is collaboration, which means bringing the right people together in order to bring the best out of each of them. Collaboration means watching how the collision of two minds can create something completely unexpected.

The other side of innovation is not only approaching known issues from a different angle, but also identifying new problems and solving them with existing solutions.

At NewieVentures, we are taking a different approach to a known problem. We know that resources and space are limited. Our approach is an optimisation of what is already there and to make the best use of what we have.
